Join Our Team as Assistant Vice President of Development at the University of Montana Foundation!
The Assistant Vice President of Development will join the leadership team of the UM Foundation’s innovative and growing Development division. They will supervise frontline fundraisers, support team members to achieve ambitious and attainable fundraising goals, foster a positive team culture, strengthen operational efficiencies, and collaborate with UM Foundation colleagues and campus leaders.

Responsibilities:
Management and Supervision
- In partnership with the Vice President of Development and other leadership, manage and supervise assigned development staff
- Work with assigned staff members to develop, implement and evaluate strategies and fundraising plans designed to meet fundraising goals and objectives
- Work with assigned staff to assess program outcomes and opportunities for continual improvement
- Identify training opportunities for assigned staff and provide ongoing mentoring
Campus and External Partners
- Interface and strategize with campus leaders about fundraising opportunities and priorities
- Maintain and grow partnerships with campus leaders on fundraising strategy, staffing, and education about the UM Foundation
- When necessary, communicate with donors or donor prospects, in support of assigned development staff or campus leaders on fundraising strategy
- Provide coverage for campus units with vacant assigned development positions
Leadership Across UM Foundation
- Collaborate with all departments and colleagues across the UM Foundation to move projects and objectives forward
- Help to build Development Division policies, procedures, and guidelines for internal processes that will strengthen operations, efficiency, and greater fundraising success
- Communicate goals, opportunities, and projects to broad audiences
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Seven years of experience in fundraising
- Record of securing major gifts, principal gifts and planned gifts
- Experience leading and motivating teams
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills; an ability to work independently and in a multi-layered team environment while fostering positive relationships, teamwork, and collaboration
