Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide health and wellness opportunities for students. This is accomplished by evaluating the feasibility of implementing American College Health Association’s (ACHA) Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education at HCC and assessing the wellness needs of the current HCC student population. This position designs and delivers in-person and online programming that addresses assessed student wellness needs; develops and maintains external partnerships to strengthen the college’s connection to community wellness organizations; and establishes relevant wellness workshops and programs. The Specialist will chair and facilitate the campus Hunger Free Task Force while supervising the HCC Resource Center and Student Emergency Assistance requests; develop and supervise the Student Wellness peer-to-peer programs, including OWLS in Action; plan and coordinate the annual Wellness Fair; oversee the contract for mental health counseling and liaising with the on-site counselor, and serve on the Student Intervention & Prevention (SIP) Team.

This is an exempt, professional staff position and includes a comprehensive benefits package offering medical, dental and vision coverage; generous paid time off; tuition assistance; and retirement savings.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Program planning, execution, and assessment.

Preferred Qualifications
Certified in CPR, Narcan, Mental Health First Aid; Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.

Hours per Week
40 - 100%

General Weekly Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m. Some evening and weekend hours will be required during events
