Position Summary:

Person in this position will be responsible for the planning and coordination of the clinical activities pertaining to mental health services for clients and their families. Provides clinical guidance and support to program staff, participates in client case conferences and participates in implementation and development of the clinical programming. Works closely with the Parole Outpatient Clinic on behalf of clients who are receiving psychiatric care, included medication prescribed for the treatment of co-occurring mental health conditions. Interview clients when referred by clinical staff for therapy, conduct assessment and individual, conjoint, couple, and multiple family groups counseling as indicated. Essential Job Functions include those listed below.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Utilize intake and screening instruments using a gender-specific assessment of needs to obtain a complete medical history; history of substance abuse; physical, emotional and sexual abuse/incest history; education level; work history; involvement with the legal system; and assessment of childrens needs in all areas of development areas;
  • Develop individualized plan of services throughout the continuum of care including ongoing assessment and treatment needs, delivery of therapeutic services, follow-up services for the women to prevent relapse and follow-up services for the children;
  • Provide case management throughout the duration of treatment including aftercare to integrate all community and program activities to assure that women and children receive services appropriate to their needs. These include applications for California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKS) Program, Medi-Cal, food stamps, ongoing health care, housing, life skills management, education, employment and 12-Step programs;
  • Provide services offered in the context of family and other relationships including individual, group and family counseling;
  • Provide guidance in determining education and vocational goals based on the interest and preferences of each woman in addition to individualized assessments;
  • Provide specialized classes and workshops, relevant topics to include Domestic Violence, incest Survivors, Family Relationships, Co-Dependence, Living with AIDS, and legal issues, e.g. child custody (Welfare and Institutions Code, Section 300
  • Participation in Quality Improvement activities in an ongoing basis;
  • Responsible for maintaining the client charts in compliance with agency, state and any other rules and standards;
  • Available to be call and program coverage as needed.
  • Participate in daily shift exchange including documenting in facility log at the end of shifts and thoroughly reviewing log at the start of shifts;
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation; and
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

Certifications/Licenses:

  • LCSW, LMFT or LPCC preferred. License eligible clinicians will be registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and under the supervision of a person qualified to provide clinical supervision of associate staff and be licensed within four years of employment;
  • As mandated by the State of California those employees who work at Residential, Outpatient, Sober Living, provide Mental Health Services, Administrative Staff or Transitional Living Facilities must be fully vaccinated and have received a booster. Employees that have requested a Medical or Religious Exemption, which has been approved by Human Resources will be required to test for the virus weekly.
  • During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.

Education:

  • Graduation with a Masters degree from an accredited school is required.

Experience and Competencies:

  • Basic computer skills;
  • Good documentation skills;
  • Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality;
  • Professional appearance and demeanor;
  • Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain clearance from California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR);
