Overview

The Freight and Logistics Consultant is an integral part of the Supply & Logistics team and will analyze information to identify and solve any logistics and supply chain operation problems for their clients. Through strategic planning, information technology advances, and re-engineering processes, logistics consultants improve the company's supply chain performance. The Freight and Logistics Consultant will give advice on productivity, materials management, transportation of goods, packaging, order processing, quality control and freight contract implementation & management.

Responsibilities
    Support all logistics functions and processes within the client's organization.
  • Develop policy and procedure manuals for logistics functions.
  • Create and implement new logistics initiatives.
  • Maintain current logistics systems.
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and issuance of freight.
  • Maintain all information for status of materials.
  • Review and modify current functional processes to increase operational efficiency.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols.
  • Track staffing requirements, hiring new employees as needed.
  • Oversees accounts payable and accounts receivable departments.
  • Collaborate with construction team to schedule all deliveries and manage all delays and ensure compliance to all freight requests.
  • Proper forms and records will be filed upon freight receipts to ensure suppliers are providing the ordered materials and to deal with any potential discrepancies.
  • Manage all aspects of logistics, including purchasing, inventory, warehousing, and receiving, as well as coordination of project resources and materials.
  • Manage freight and shipments to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure projects comply with government standards and regulations.
  • Manage all logistical operations including receiving, storage, packaging, shipping, and tracking.
  • Plan and develop logistics budgets.
  • Prepare required reports for all cost accounts and procurement to ensure compliance to all account payable requirements.
  • Collaborate with various departments to manage efficient flow of all freight and logistics.
  • Monitor inventory levels, production schedules, and freight routing and scheduling.
  • Upon receipt of requisitions, will either retrieve the requested material and deliver the material to the requester or facilitate the logistics of retrieval and delivery.
  • Prepare reports for all freight and logistics and may assist with managing transportation of materials.
Qualifications
  • Ten (10) plus years of experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Proven work experience in logistics planning/scheduling and freight contract management.
  • Expertise and knowledge of transportation and logistics systems, including ability to conduct research and investigations.
  • Expertise in freight and distribution center operation.
  • Experience working with electric and gas utilities is preferred.
  • Ability to brainstorm, prioritize, and execute logistics plans.
  • Must have knowledge of logistics and how to implement strategically.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Ability to support multiple project managers/project teams.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively interact with various departments to maintain open lines of communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • SAP experience highly desirable.
  • Excellent excel skills required.
  • Driver's License required.

Wage Data Per State Requirements

Pay range for this position is $40/hr - $55/hr. The starting pay will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
