POSITION SUMMARY
Faculty within the Cinematic Arts Department at the Community College of Aurora play a crucial role in leading, coordinating, and supporting various initiatives to align with the college's vision, mission, and strategic plan. Grounded in principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and student-centered practices, the department offers courses in Film, Video, Media and Content Creation.
As integral members of the CCA community, our faculty embody and promote the values of respect, collaboration, quality, access, diversity, and inclusion. They actively engage in institutional initiatives, serve on committees, and represent the Office of Innovative Arts and the Cinematic Arts department in their assigned tasks.
The faculty member in this position will focus on teaching Post Production courses, contributing to curriculum development, organizing student events, supporting student project delivery and editing lab activities, delivering edits for department and college projects and interstitials, and promoting creativity in education while actively participating in institutional activities and collaborations within the Academic Affairs division to support students as they transition to transfer or careers in the creative industries.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Teach Post Production courses aligning instruction with CCA's mission.
  • Utilize expertise in Post Production and Emerging Arts to develop innovative and inclusive curriculum, collaborations, and assessments in support of new degrees and certificates in the Innovative Arts.
  • Stay current on culturally responsive teaching practices to support student success and enhance completion and retention rates for diverse student backgrounds.
  • Implement effective teaching methods that value diverse perspectives and knowledge, incorporating varied instructional approaches and diverse curriculum materials with cultural sensitivity.
  • Assess student performance constructively and promptly according to course syllabus and college guidelines.
  • Support Concurrent Enrollment instructors by providing feedback, mentoring, and acting as a point of contact.
  • Develop and manage Post Production support systems and workshops to provide additional assistance and expertise to students, instructors and college staff in Post Production needs.
  • Assist with editing department and college projects and interstitials.
  • Develop relationships and opportunities with industry partners and facilitate workforce placement opportunities in Post Production and content creation.
  • Engage in college service activities and participate in departmental and college-wide assessments to contribute to the institution's growth and development.
  • Complete mandatory professional development activities and engage in discipline-specific learning to enhance teaching practices.
  • Adhere to college values, guidelines, and policies while maintaining accurate records via Desire2Learn (D2L) and submitting required documentation within specified deadlines.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Content Knowledge Evidence - An Associate's (or relevant current industry license or certification), Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree with 18 discipline-related credits in film, and or media arts from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Experience with leading editing platforms including Final Cut Pro, Premiere, Da Vinci and After Effects
  • 3+ years of post-secondary teaching experience in Post Production
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement, ongoing professional development, and a resilience for a dynamic changing work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and impact students in supportive ways
  • Unofficial transcripts must be provided as part of the application materials.
  • Occupational Experience Evidence - For an Associate Degree or Current Industry License or Certification, 4000 hours within last 7 years of paid and/or unpaid professional industry experience (non-teaching) in related field (1-year full time equates to approximately 2000 hours). For a Bachelor or Master's Degree, 2000 hours within last 7 years of paid and/or unpaid professional industry experience (non-teaching) in related field (1-year full time equates to approximately 2000 hours)
The finalist will have to provide some evidence of occupational experience in the industry during the hiring process.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience teaching in a community college
  • Demonstrated background of innovation in the arts
  • Experience with assessment of academic programs
  • Experience working at a Hispanic Serving institution, and/or Minority Serving Institution and/or in programs aimed at encouraging access, retention, and completion of diverse student populations.
  • Understanding of the mission and purpose of a community college including equity minded practice and inclusive excellence.
  • Demonstrated dedication to interactive learner centered teaching methods
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing various pedagogical approaches
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to issues of diversity and the ability to motivate and teach community college students of diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds, sexual orientations, genders, cultures and learning styles, as well as students with disabilities or varied levels of academic preparation
  • Demonstrated skills incorporating high impact practices in the classroom



SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range: $51,591.00- $72,146.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
