Bellingham Technical College is seeking an adjunct Engineering Technology Instructor for Winter Quarter 2024 to teach AutoCAD I MW 2:10-4:20 pm with the potential for additional courses in the department over the academic year. Adjunct positions are part-time and quarterly. Employment is contingent upon adequate enrollment. The class load may be from one to three classes each quarter (fall, winter, spring, summer), but are based on need.

Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and teach Engineering Technology courses during the term as specified by the academic schedule;
- Use instructional technology, including learning management systems and other hybrid methods to deliver coursework;
- Provide timely and accurate assessment feedback to students;
- Plan, supervise, and evaluate students' progress;
- Hold office hours;
- Maintain related student records, evaluations, and progress reports;
- Provide a course syllabus for each class;
- Consult with other college faculty and staff on issues relevant to student’s success and retention;
- Work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and experiences;
- Demonstrate respect for others;
- Participate in departmental meetings and activities;
- Contribute to college-wide goals and activities;
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to Bellingham Technical College's Mission;
- Other related duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering area;
- Proficiency at AutoCAD.
- Bachelor’s Degree;
- Prior teaching experience;
- Experience with course design and/or curriculum development.
- Collaborative work skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Commitment to interdisciplinary learning;
- Commitment to pluralism and the ability to work effectively in a diverse workplace and educational environment;
- High level of energy, creativity, and motivation to design and implement effective teaching and learning practices;
- Tolerance for ambiguity and change;
- Experience in facilitating the success of individuals representing a broad range of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and ability backgrounds;
- Experience with non-traditional teaching methods;
- Work closely with Accessibility Resources for students with accommodation needs;

Supplemental Information
Compensation: Adjunct pay will be determined according to the current negotiated salary schedule. Effective July 1, 2024, per course compensation for a 5 credit, 55-hour class would be $3,703.15 ($67.33 per hour); however, salary will vary based on course credits per class. Rate of pay includes payment for extra duties required for the teaching, prep-time, meetings, office hours, and professional functions associated with this assignment.
Benefits: The following benefits are in accordance with the Bellingham Education Association (BEA) and subject to change with each negotiated contact. Current BEA contract expires June 30, 2025. Benefits include paid sick leave. Sick leave is accrued based on their contracted FTEF multiplied by 7.5 hour for each month in active teaching status. In addition, if eligible, a 5% per hour more above the teaching rate doctoral stipend if teaching a five credit or more course (not paid on contract training, community or continuing ed courses); In addition, a 5% Longevity premium rate after teaching 1375 hours at BTC. Other benefits include Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a free counseling & referral program; potential flexible and/or remote schedules. No additional benefits.
