Primary Purpose:
Advises and guides policy related activities. Identifies, analyzes and develops strategies, and consults with subject matter experts, business and financial analysts and operational teams to identify and mitigate risks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide business strategy advising on emerging topics/areas of business interest such as decarbonization, energization, gas planning, and evolution of current and future portfolios. Research and provide strategic analysis on policy and compliance related topics.
- Aligns regulatory policies and proceedings with department responsibilities and activities so directives can be incorporated into daily operations and long-term planning. Develops and provides policy guidance and recommendations.
- Conduct analysis and provide guidance related to policy and compliance in operational areas, advice letters, regulatory audits, identification and mitigation of risks. May support competitive solicitation activities, providing key inputs to RFA/RFP development, Q&A responses, bid evaluations and recommendations.
- Analyzes and communicates complicated regulatory concepts and ideas to staff and management. Supports preparation of regulatory filings, which includes reviewing and/or drafting testimony, written comments to regulatory proposals and data request responses.
- Assist with training and mentoring employees on policies and processes to ensure transfer of knowledge for the adherence to regulatory program rules and business controls.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Hybrid Schedule:
- Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
- Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in policy, business, engineering, related area or equivalent experience.
- 10 years - In energy and regulatory roles
- Thorough knowledge of the state and/or federal regulatory process.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to positively influence others to gain respect, cooperation and support.
- Capacity to learn and understand complicated energy and business model concepts, processes, and policy.
- Thorough understanding of the key regulatory, legislative and competitive issues facing the Company and its business units.
- Ability to work well with others as part of a team environment.
- Strong comprehension of Company objectives as well as related actions and activities.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

SDG&E offers a competitive total rewards package that goes beyond base salary. This position is eligible for an annual performance-based incentive (bonus) as well as other merit-based recognition. Our Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP) is one way we recognize employee's' work to help us execute and deliver on our strategic priorities. The target for this position is an award of 15% of base salary and is based on individual and company performance for the plan year.
