About the Department

The primary function of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department is to provide educational programs leading to BS, MS and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering. The administrative unit provides support to the education and research programs that reside in the department.

Essential Job Duties

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at NC State University seeks highly qualified candidates to fill multiple professional track (non-tenure track) teaching faculty positions. Successful candidates are expected to teach undergraduate- and/or graduate-level chemical engineering courses, perform internal and external professional service at a level commensurate with rank, and establish a national or international reputation in engineering education, outreach, and/or extension.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate core courses in chemical engineering, including assessment of learning outcomes, coordination and supervision of teaching assistants, and development of new content.
  • Participate in the development of new courses and curricula in areas of responsibility.
  • Act as academic advisor to undergraduate ChE majors.
  • Serve on departmental and college committees.
  • Perform professional external service.
  • Develop a national or international reputation in engineering education, outreach, and/or extension.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering or closely related field with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and commitment to student success.

  • Distinguished achievement and demonstrated ability to direct activities in mutually agreed upon realms of responsibility.
  • Established reputation in the individual’s profession.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to participate in Department, college, and university affairs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching and student mentoring experience at the college level.
  • Experience in engineering education research, outreach and recruiting, chemical engineering design, and/or industry.
