Job Summary
The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI is recruiting a full-time Clinical Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatric Pulmonology with strong clinical and teaching skills. The rank of the selected candidate will depend upon candidate's qualifications. Candidates must be BC/BE in Pediatric Pulmonology.
The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology is currently comprised of eleven board-certified pediatric pulmonologists (one of whom who is also board-certified in sleep) and five nurse practitioners. The Division provides inpatient care for children at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor. In addition to caring for patients on the pediatric pulmonary service, the Division provides care for a 10-bed Pediatric Ventilator Unit for patients requiring long term ventilation, and an active consult service that sees patients in the pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, pediatric cardiothoracic unit, subspecialty services and general pediatrics service.
The Division is also responsible for a busy outpatient practice that cares for patients with asthma, cystic fibrosis, BPD, chronic respiratory failure, primary ciliary dyskinesia, congenital lung abnormalities, neuromuscular and aerodigestive disorders, interstitial lung disease and other pulmonary illnesses. Worthy of special mention are the Cystic Fibrosis Center, the Home Ventilator Program, and the Child Asthma Management Program. In addition, we have a state-of- the-art pulmonary function laboratory, a full sleep lab and a very active bronchoscopy service. The Division staffs Michigan Medicine clinics in Ann Arbor, Brighton, and Ypsilanti. Outreach opportunities are available to hospitals and clinics in Flint, Mt. Pleasant, and UMH-Sparrow in Lansing, MI. Candidates will be expected to participate in clinical care, teaching of medical students, residents and Pediatric Pulmonology fellows and quality improvement. Participation in research, including CF and asthma clinical trials, is also supported. Pediatric pulmonologists with experience in sleep disorders are encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications*
The ideal candidate will have an MD or DO degree, be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Pulmonary Medicine, and will hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the State of Michigan. The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills. Evidence of clinical competence and competence in clinical and didactic teaching is expected.
